Wir wussten ja schon länger, daß wir umziehen werden, aber heute habe ich definitiv erfahren, daß dies in weniger als 2 Monaten geschehen soll!!
We knew that a move is coming but today I learned that we will definitely move within the next two month!!
LSNED 27 - 26.09.
Natürlich dreht sich jetzt alles darum eine neue Bleibe zu suchen. Im Internet haben wir uns schonmal schlau gemacht und gelernt, daß es in CT wenig Mietwohnungen oder -reihenhäuser gibt - hauptsächlich Häuser (was ich aus verschiedenen Gründen eigentlich nicht möchte) und das die Mieten wesentlich höher sind als hier in PA. ende der Woche werden wir mal hochfahren und uns vor Ort ein paar der Objekte angucken ...
Of course the focus is now to find a new home. We have looked up various options on the internet and have learned that in CT there aren't a lot of apartments or townhouses for rent - mainly houses (which I do not prefer) and the rents are much higher than here in PA. We will drive up at the end of the week to have a look at some of the options ...

LSNED 19 - 18.09.
Dieses Jahr fahre ich mit meiner Freundin Patricia auf einen Kurztrip nach Berlin und nun hab ich endlich gebucht, d.h. heute hab ich erfahren, wann meine Bahnzeiten nach/von Berlin sind.
This year I'm going with my friend Patricia on a short trip to Berlin and I finally booked my ticket, so I learned about the times of my train ride to and from Berlin.
LSNED 20 - 19.09.
Mr P. hat mich schon mit meinem Geburtstags- und Weihnachtsgeschenk für dieses Jahr überrascht - einen Laptop! (OK normalerweise gibt es bei uns keine Geschenke, aber wie anders soll man dieses Megageschenk sonst rechtfertigen :-)) Ich hab ihn jetzt schon bekommen, damit wir ihn schonmal einrichten können und ich ihn schon auf Reisen nutzen kann. Ist Mr.P. nicht SUPER!!
Ich bin nun stolzer Besitzer eines eigenen Laptops! (Bisher hatte ich entweder Firmenlaptops oder den superalten von Mr.P.).
Ich hab somit gelernt wie ein nagelneuer Laptop eingerichtet wird.
Mr.P. surprised me already with my birthday- and Christmas-present for this year! (OK, normally we don't give presents but somehow such a huge gift has to be justified!) I got it so early, so I can use it already on my travels. Isn't Mr.P. WONDERFUL!!
I'm now a proud owner of my own laptop! (In the past I either had a company laptop or Mr.P.'s very old one).
I learned how to activate a brandnew laptop.
LSNED 21 - 20.09.
Seitdem wir unsere Diät vor ein paar Wochen angefangen haben, haben wir viele unserer Lieblings-essen nicht mehr gekocht (zum Glück werden aber alle irgendwann wieder auf dem Speiseplan stehen können!). Nun hab ich erfahren, daß das Essen auf dem Bild Mr. P.s neues Lieblingsessen ist. Das Rezept könnt ihr demnächst hier auf dem Blog finden :-).
Since we have started our diet a couple of weeks ago we haven't cooked our favourite dishes (good thing is they can/will all be back on the menue when we are done!). Now I learned that Mr.P. has a new favourite and above is a sneak peak. And just in case you are interested the receipe can be found here soon :-).

Unglaublich aber wahr, von diesem layout haben sich die Rosetten gelöst (und dabei hatte ich gedacht besonders starken Kleber genommen zu haben). Also, hab ich die Dinger neu zusammen-gebastelt und dabei gelernt den stärksten Kleber zu nehmen den ich finden kann.
Unbelievable, both rosettes fell off this layout (and I thought I had used a strong adhesive). So, I learned when doing these things to use the strongest one I can find to put them together.

Bisher hab ich immer so nach gutdünken die Schatten auf meinen Digi-layouts gemacht. Heute hab ich das Internet durchforscht und einiges über die Erstellung von individuellen Schatten gelernt. Ich hab das natürlich auch gleich auf meinem neuen layout angewendet :-)
Upto now I only did the shadows on my digi-pages according to the presets. Today I searched the internet and learned a lot about shadowing different items. I have used this new knowledge on my latest layout :-)

Wenn ich mehrere Sachen zu verkleinern habe, mache ich das normalerweise in picresize. Ich finde es nur praktischer es gleich in PSE zu machen und es hat eigentlich auch immer geklappt - nur leider waren die letzten Werke immernoch zu groß für die neuen Foren in denen ich bin. Also hab ich nun endlich mal gelernt wie man das richtig macht.
If I have to resize a lot of pics or layouts I usually do this in picresize, but I thought it might be much more convenient to do this in PSE - it always worked. I only now discovered that for the new forums I'm in the pics are still too big. So, I finally learned how to resize correctly.

Ich nutze Skype regelmäßig, aber bisher hatte ich immer nur mit einzelnen Personen das Vergnügen. Gestern hab ich nun gelernt, daß es super lustig ist, wenn man mit mehreren kommuniziert (ich war so platt, daß ich völlig vergessen habe ein Foto zu schießen!).
I'm a user of Skype, but normally I'm only chatting with one person at a time. Yesterday I learned how much fun it is to talk to several people at the same time (and I was so overwhelmed that I completely forgot to take a picture!).

...hier habe ich gelernt, daß die fettigen Bratkartoffeln und ein zu harter Muffin den Geschmack doch sehr beeinträchtigen.

Nachdem ich mich mit dem umsortieren meiner Digi-Elemente beschäftigt habe, habe ich leider feststellen müssen, daß ich einen riesigen Fehler gemacht habe!
Ich habe gelernt meine Digi-Elemente in PSE umzusortieren statt in Windows!

Indem ich alle Digi-Elemente in PSE wieder verbunden habe, hab ich gelernt wieviel Zeit mich mein gestriger Fehler gekostet hat!

Wir haben unsere Führerscheine verlängern müssen und sind dafür im Führerscheinzentrum gewesen. Es war unglaublich voll und wir mußten über 2 Stunden warten, aber...
... ich hab gelernt, daß die Angestellten dort immernoch sehr freundlich und lustig waren.
We had to renew our drivers-licence and went to the drivers-licence-center. It was crowded and although we had to wait for abt. 2 hours...
... I learned that the people working there were still very friendly and even joking.

Seitdem wir aus Florida wieder da sind, hatte ich mich doch so an meinem 'niemals endenden Projekt' festgebissen, daß ich irgendwie nicht dazugekommen bin den Blog auf den neusten Stand zu bringen, aber nun sind wirklich alle Probleme beseitigt und es geht wieder los...
Ich fang erstmal mit den Lernerfolgen an. Es wird leider nicht für jeden Tag ein Foto geben - es gibt halt einige Themen, die sich nicht wirklich mit einem Foto unterstützen lassen...

I never really liked eggplants. But not long ago Mr. P. started to grill them and since then I'm a big fan and I have now ordered them in a restaurant as well, but...

Womit hab ich also die letzten Tage verbracht.... mit dem organisieren meines Photoshop Organizer! Ich hatte mittlerweile ca. 70,000 Photos und Digi-Sachen da drin und es wurde einfach super unübersichtlich (obwohl ich mit Keyword-Tags und Alben arbeite!). Ich wollte von daher getrennte Kataloge für Photos und für Digi-Sachen haben. Lt. Adobe kann man zwischen den 'catalogs' aber nicht hin-und herkopieren und ich wollte auf jeden Fall meine Albem und Keywordtag-Struktur behalten. Dank eines sehr guten Tips einer Scrapfreundin hab ich es nun hinbekommen und auch bereits getestet - es funktioniert wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe, ich muß nun nur aufpassen in welchem 'catalog' ich was abspeichere...

What did I do the last days... I organised my Photoshop organizer! I had about 70,000 photos and digi-items in my catalog and although I'm working with keyword tags and albums ii was really getting a bit chaotic. I therefore wanted seperate catalogs - one for pictures and one for digi-items but I wanted to keep my tag and album structure. According to Adobe it is not possible to copy things inbetween catalogs. Thanks to a scrappingfriend I got a very good tip and now it works according to my liking - I have tested it already! Now I just have to be carfeful in which catalog I safe what....
Yesterday and the day before I learned how to make two catalogs out of one in Photoshop Elements without loosing my structure.

Gestern hab ich etwas getan was ich schon seit Ewigkeiten vorhatte - ich hab meine neue Nähmaschine aus dem Keller geholt (neu, weil ich sie gekauft hatte kurz bevor ich wußte, daß ich über den Teich ziehe und von daher auch noch nie benutzt!). Künstlerisch gesehen komme ich ja aus der Nähecke. Ich hab früher sogar Klamotten selber genäht, aber dann hatte mich der Job doch immer mehr in Beschlag genommen.... Na ja, nun war es also endlich soweit und mit dem Trafo ging die Maschine auch sehr gut, aber natürlich lange nicht so gut wie die alte meiner Mom!
Im Moment wollte ich auch nur ausprobieren, ob man wirklich auf Papier und Prospekthüllen nähen kann (seitdem ich das letztes Jahr mal in einem Kurs von Shimelle gesehen hatte wollte ich mich da schon ranmachen). Also...

Yesterday I learned to machine stich on paper and page protectors.
Und das hier ist dabei rausgekommen - eine Organisation meiner herumfliegenden Stanzen :-) , die nun ordentlich in einem 'Reisverschlußordner' verstaut sind.
And this is the result - an individual organisation for my flying around dies :-) , which are now happily living in a zipper binder.

Yesterday I did something which was on my mind for a long time - I took my new sewing mashine up from the basement (new because I just bought it shortly before I knew that I will move over the Atlantic and I never used it). Artisticwise I'm coming from the craft of sewing and when I was younger I sewed my clothes but than my job took over.... anyway, now I had the mashine up and with the power converter it was running nicely, but not as nice as the old one from my Mom of course! Gestern sind wir in einer Art botanischem Garten bei uns um die Ecke gewesen. Wir haben eine Jahreskarte und sind immer wieder überwältigt, wieviel es zu jeder Jahreszeit dort zu sehen gibt.
Gestern hab ich gelernt, daß die Passionsblume nicht immer blau ist, sondern dieses wunderschöne Burgunder zur Schau stellen kann.
Ich glaube bei uns bekommt man diese Pflanze um Ostern (auch unter dem Namen Christuskrone), oder?

I think in Germany you mainly get this flower (also known as Christ's crown) around Eastern.

Juhuuuu der Strom ist wieder da und unsere Essensvorbereitungen sind in vollem Gange - hier nur schnell meine gestrige Erkenntnis:
Gestern hab ich gelernt, daß es sehr große Unterschiede bei Tofuwürstchen gibt.
Wir wollten mal eine andere Marke ausprobieren und haben leider fast alles wegschmeissen müssen, weil diese Würstchen (siehe Foto) nicht genießbar waren. Mr.P. hatte die ganze Nacht von dem einen Würstchen, welches er gegessen hatte Magenschmerzen! Heute haben wir wieder unsere Lieblingsmarke gekauft, die auch noch günstiger ist :-) Und ratet mal was heute abend u.a. auf dem Grill landet....
The power is back and we are already fully in our dinner preparations - just wanted to let you know quickly about what I've learned yesterday:
Yesterday I learned that there is a big difference in the quality of tofusausages on the market.
We bought another brand of tofusausages to test and unfortunately we had to throw away most of the sausages (see pic) as they were not eatable. Mr.P. also had the whole night stomach ache from the one he ate! Today we bought our usual brand, which is even cheaper :-) and guess what will be also on the grill tonight...

We bought another brand of tofusausages to test and unfortunately we had to throw away most of the sausages (see pic) as they were not eatable. Mr.P. also had the whole night stomach ache from the one he ate! Today we bought our usual brand, which is even cheaper :-) and guess what will be also on the grill tonight...

Das System dieses Kurses ist ja ganz logisch. Ich kann natürlich am morgen noch nicht wissen was ich am abend gelernt habe, deshalb wird mein Lernerfolg erst einen Tag später aufgeschrieben, klar oder?
Gestern hab ich gelernt, daß die Fiskars Handstanzer nicht wirklich für dickeres Papier geeignet sind :-(.
Zum Glück ist das erst passiert, als ich alle Apfel ausgestanzt hatte - ich wollte nur noch ein paar gelbe machen....

Mein Album hatte ich ja schon letztes Jahr 'zusammengebaut', aber heute hab ich den Buchdeckel dekoriert und mir Gedanken über die Deko gemacht. Da das Format sehr klein ist (jede Seite ist nur ca. 4.5x16 cm) werde ich nur wenig Platz für Text und noch weniger für embellies haben - auch bin ich durch den Buchrücken gezwungen die Seiten nicht zu dick zu machen. Von daher werde ich wohl hauptsächlich auf Stanzer und Stempel zurückgreifen :-)
Auf die kleinen Apfel werde ich das jeweilige Datum stempeln (leider ist mir der Fiskars Stanzer mal wieder beim ausstanzen kaputtgegangen - kann es sein, daß die nur bei geringer Papierdicke funktionieren???!!)
Auch hab ich mir heute eine kleine Fotovorlage in Photoshop angelegt, damit ich mögliche Fotos von mehreren Tagen zusammen drucken kann, d.h. ich werde meine 'Lernerfolge' erst hier festhalten und dann in das Album übertragen.
Ihr seht ich bin dieses Jahr bestens vorbereitet - nun muß ich nur noch etwas lernen und eintragen....

The album is very small (each page is only 2x6.25 inch) and I'm also limited by the book spine in respect of the dimension on each page. Therefore I think I will mainly use punches and stamps for decorating :-)
On the little apples I will stamp the respective date (unfortunately the Fiskars punch broke again - is it possible that those only work with super thin paper??!!).

... LSNED Zeit. Letztes Jahr bin ich gerade mal dazugekommen ein Album herauszusuchen. Dieses Jahr bin ich sehr motiviert den Kurs auch zu Ende zu bringen, aber das Schöne ist ja - es gibt bei all den Kursen von Shimelle kein Zeitlimit :-), d.h. die Kursmaterialien sind immer zugänglich und man braucht nur einmal bezahlen und kann jedes Jahr wieder mitmachen - SUPER! Mal schauen, wie weit ich es diesmal schaffe...

Ich hab ein weiteres layout für unser Agypten Album (2006) gemacht. Dieses Konzept war super geeignet für all die Postkarten, die wir im Tal der Könige gekauft haben :-)

Text on the layout: Pictures not allowed - 1. It is logical that it is not allowed to take pictures inside the tombs. Luckily there are lots of postcard vendors in the Valley of the Kings. Unfortunately the quality of the cards is very bad. - 2. We visited the tombs KV9, KV 11 and KV 15.

Ich denke dies ist das letzte digitale layout für unser Puerto Rico Album. Nun muß ich nur noch die anderen Fotos entwickeln lassen und los geht's mit den traditionellen Seiten :-) Für dieses layout hab ich wieder einen Sketch von Shimelle verwendet, der sogar noch zu den challenges von letzter Woche gehört. Hier könnt ihr die challenge nachlesen.
I think this will be my last digital layout for our Puerto Rico album. Now I need to get the other good ones printed and start with the traditional layouts :-) This layout is again according to a sketch from Shimelle and it is also part of the crop challenges, which you can find here.
The text on the layout: Birds eye view - On our way back to San Juan we were extremely lucky because the weather was fantastic. Not only was the flight in this small airplane much nicer than during the rain, but we also had a fantastic view on the fort. A couple of days earlier, when we visited the fort, we could only imagine the full size of it according to the information boards, as it is so big. From the air we had a great view. What a sight!
