Ein Neuanfang / What a wonderful day to revive this place !

Es gibt soviele Gründe warum ausgerechnet heute ein super Tag ist, um dem Blog mal wieder etwas Leben einzuhauchen:

1. endlich scheint auch hier der Frühling einzukehren - die Sonne lies sich sehen und Blümchen und Bäume fangen an zu blühen. Leider noch etwas kalt, aber das wird schon noch...
2. in den meisten Teilen der Welt ist heute Feiertag (hier leider nicht) aber dies ist auf jeden Fall ein guter Grund um Gute Laune zu haben, oder?
3. vor ziemlich genau 2 Jahren wurde bei mir Brustkrebs diagnostiziert und ich hab ihn besiegt!
4. ich hab endlich einen Plan wie ich dem Berg von angehäuften Fotos (digital und gedruckt) Herr werden kann!
5. ich hab noch jede Menge Reisen und Kurztrips zu verarbeiten, für deren Zusammenfassung, Hotel- und Restaurantbeurteilungen ich nicht unbedingt ein layout machen will.
6. heute startete die DigiScrapParade, Mein absoluter LieblingsHop, soviele Freebies und soviel Inspirationen. 
7. der iNSD (interNational Scrapbooking Day) ist morgen und auf vielen Webseiten haben die Aktivitäten schon begonnen. Ganz unten hab ich ein paar meiner Lieblingsseiten aufgelistet (auf Englisch, da die jeweiligen Seiten alle auf Englisch sind, aber das ist ok, denke ich, oder?). Happy Scrapping!

Hier noch eine kurze Zusammenfassung des letzten Jahres - es hatte viel Schönes, aber auch wieder eine OP und große Enttäuschungen im engeren Freundeskreis:

There are so many good reasons to revive this blog today:

1. finally Spring is here - the sun was shining and flowers and trees start to bloom. It's still cold, but there is hope for warmer temperatures soon...
2. today there is a holiday in most parts of the world (not here) and that is always a reason to be happy, right?
3. I got my breast cancer diagnosis almost exactly two years ago and after all the treatments I can say that I am now cancer free and considered to be a cancer survivor!
4. after a lot of thinking and trying out different things I now have a plan what to do with the huge amount of pictures (digital and printed) I have.
5. I want to summarize a couple of trips and review some hotel- and restaurants, which I do not necessarily want to do on a layout.
6. today the DigiScrapParade launched. It's my absolute favourite hop, lots of freebies and inspiration from great designers.
7. iNSD (interNational Scrapbooking Day) is tomorrow and there are lots of activities going on to celebrate it. Below I have listed my favourites. Happy Scrapping! 

The layout above is a summary of last year (since my last layout) - which has been a good one, despite another operation and a deep disappointment and re-evaluation of certain friendships.

Alles ist gut... / All is good...

Ich bin wieder da!

Genau ein Jahr ist es her, daß ich meinen jährlichen Mammographietermin hatte, der zusammen mit einigen Folgeterminen letztendlich zu meinen beiden Brustkrebsdiagnosen führte. Gestern hatte ich meine erste Mammographie nach der Diagnose und es wurde nichts festgestellt - ju huuuuuuuuuuuu. Ich bin somit offiziell eine Brustkrebs-Überlebende. Dieser Termin war für mich ungemein wichtig, um wirklich zu sehen, ob die Behandlung Erfolg hatte - obwohl die Angst natürlich bleibt, ob einer der Krebse wieder kommt... aber für den Moment ist alles gut und ich kann mich wieder ruhiger auf andere Dinge konzentrieren. Ich hatte einfach unglaubliches Glück und super Ärzte.

Das vergangene Jahr bestand natürlich nicht nur aus Arztbesuchen, Operationen, Bestrahlung und Nachbehandlungen (wobei ich das Anti-Krebsmedikament Tamoxifen auch noch weiter nehmen muss). Das herausragenste Ereignis war sicherlich unsere Reise nach Asien. Wir hatten diesen Trip bereits im Januar gebucht und per Zufall lag unser Urlaub genau in der Zeitspanne zwischen 2ter OP und Bestrahlung. Die Ärzte haben den Trip dann sogar befürwortet. Ich werde demnächst mal ein paar Eindrücke davon hochladen.

Ich habe auch wieder angefangen zu kreieren und das erste digi-layout ist eine kurze Zusammenfassung der letzten 12 Monate geworden. Ich hoffe es gefällt euch :-) Falls ihr Fragen zu einzelnen Fotos habt, laßt es mich wissen.

I'm back!

Exactly one year ago I had my yearly mammogram, which along with some further testing resulted in my two breast cancer diagnosises. Yesterday I had my first mammogram after the treatment and they didn't find anything - yeah! I'm now officially a breast cancer survivor. This appointment was very important for me, to see if the treatment really worked and to now go on and start concentrating on other things - although the fear stays if one of the cancers might come back one day... but for now all is good :-) It seems that I had a lot of luck and some great doctors.

Last year was luckily not only filled with doctors appointments, hospital stays, radiation and follow-up appointments (although I still need to take the anti-breastcancer pill Tamoxifen). The most outstanding thing was for sure our trip to Asia. We had booked it already in January and it was pure coincidence that the vacation was planned between the 2nd operation and the radiation treatment. The doctors even encouraged us to go, as the wounds had to heal first. I will post some of the impressions from that trip soon.

I also started creating again and my first layout (above) is a little overview of the things that happened during the last 12 months. Enjoy! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Es ist schon etwas her... / It's been a while...

...seitdem ich etwas gepostet habe, aber an dem Tag meines lezten Blogposts habe ich erfahren, daß ich Brustkrebs habe und seitdem waren einfach andere Dinge wichtiger. Mittlerweile bin ich 2x operiert und habe meine Bestrahlungstherapie angefangen. Die Aussichten sind wohl recht gut und von daher werd ich nun auch den Blog wieder häufiger auf den neusten Stand zu bringen.

Ich hab auch schon wieder ein paar layouts in Arbeit und ein paar Blogposts geplant zu machen. Es wird hier also bald wieder was zu gucken und zu lesen geben :-).

Hier ist schonmal ein digi-layout was ich bereits nach der ersten OP gemacht habe

... since I posted something, but on the day of my last blogpost I was diagnosed with cancer and therefore other things have just been more important. In the meantime I've been operated twice and I have started my radiation therapy. It looks all quite good and therefore I hope to update the blog more often now.

I have already some layouts and blogposts planned, so come back soon to read more. 

The above layout I did after my first operation and the second picture is the therapy room where I need to get my treatment every workday.

PSL weeks 1+2 challenges

Es ist wieder soweit seit 3 Wochen ist PSL (Pro Scrapbookers League) in vollem Gange bei Club Scrap. Es geht in erster Linie darum, die im Club erstandenen Kits (egal ob physisch oder digital) zu benutzen und Spaß zu haben. Als Gewinn gibt es Prozente auf den Einkauf in der Woche die auf die jeweilige challenge folgt. Ich hab mich mal wieder für ein digi team und ein Kartenteam angemeldet.

Letzte Woche konnte ich leider nichts kreieren, da wir unterwegs waren. Aber dies ist natürlich eine gute Möglichkeit die ersten beiden Wochen hier hochzuladen. Viel Spaß!

 

 

It's that time again - since three weeks it's PSL (Pro Scrapbookers League) at Club Scrap. The idea is to use up your stash (or use the digi kits) and to have fun. The rewards is a certain percentage off during the week after the challenge is over. I have again signed up for a digi team and for a card team.

Last week I couldn't participate in the challenge, as we were travelling. But this gives me a good opportunity to load up my layouts for the first two weeks and here they are - enjoy!

So viel Dinge.. / So many things...

Januar ist traditionell der ruhigste Monat für uns. I.d.R. sind keine Reisen geplant und wir geniessen es einfach nur zu Hause zu sein. Dieses Jahr war dies besonders wichtig - vor allem für mich. Aber dies heißt nicht, daß so gar nichts passiert! Im Gegenteil. Ich hab mehrere Projekte angefangen und werde die auch in Kürze hier vorstellen.

Der Nachteil im Januar ist nur, es ist kalt und in meiner kreativen Ecke ist es i.M. richtig eisig. Ich hab dort zwar eine kleine Elektroheizung, aber ich hab immer das Gefühl, daß es reine Energieverpuffung ist das Teil laufen zu lassen. Deshalb ist die traditionelle layout Gestaltung z.Z. im wahrsten Sinne etwas auf Eis gelegt.

Aber ich war fleissig und bin endlich mal durch unsere diversen Fotos gegangen und hab einen ganzen Berg drucken lassen. Zum Glück hatte ich einen coupon bei Costco, denn als ich die Bilder letztes Wochenende abgeholt habe war ich doch erschrocken über die extrem schlechte Qualitaet der Fotos. Ich hatte in PA nie Probleme mit der Qualitaet der Bilder, aber hier ist es nun schon das zweite Mal das ich nicht mit den Fotos zufrieden bin. Ich werd mir die Fotos diese Woche nochmal vornehmen und zusehen, das ich vernünftige Abzüge bekomme, damit ich wieder welche zum verscrappen habe :-)

Auch hab ich noch ein paar layouts, die ich hier noch nicht hochgeladen habe, weil ich sie einfach nicht ordentlich fotografiert bekomme. Unsere Wohnung ist zwar recht hell, aber auch wieder nicht hell genug um layouts zu fotografieren und draussen ist es mir einfach zu kalt ...

Ansonsten hab ich ein paar digi-layouts für die Januar challenges bei Gingerscraps gemacht habe. Und hier sind sie.... viel Spass!

January is traditionally our most quiet month were we just enjoy being at home. This beginning of the year hasn't been different. This doesn't mean that nothing happens! To the contrary I have started a couple of projects which I will share here shortly.

At this time of the year my craft area is freezing cold. I do have a little heater down there but I always have the idea that switching it on is like blowing energy out of the window. I'm not a fan of that and therefore my tradional layout making is literally put on ice right now.

But I was very busy and finally started to sort our photos and got a whole bunch printed. Thank God I had a coupon at Costco, so I'm now not too sad that I will throw most of them away as the quality of the pics turned out to be really bad. I never had problems with my pics from Costco in PA but this is now the 2nd time here and I don't like their prints. I will look into them this week again and have them reprinted in order to have some for scrapping :-)

I also found a couple of traditional layouts which I haven't shared here because I couldn't get a decent photo of them. Our place has a lot of light but unfortunately the angle coming in is not very good for taking pics of layouts...

Ist es das Alter? / Is it the age?

Mein Auge ist fast wieder in Ordnung aber nun hat mich doch glatt noch eine Erkältung erwischt! Und es macht wirklich keinen Spaß erkältet zu fliegen! Mir haben beim Anflug auf New York am Sonntag abend beide Ohren so schlimm wie noch nie wehgetan. Auch jetzt ist mein eines Ohr noch etwas zu. Na ja, wird schon werden - wird man vielleicht mit den Jahren anfälliger oder ist es einfach nur die Jahreszeit ??? Wer weiß...

My eye is almost healed but now I caught a cold! And it is no fun flying with it! When the pilot started his landing procedure to New York on Sunday evening both of my ears were aching badly. Still one of my ears hasn't 'opened' completely but I'm sure in one or two days it'll be fine - may be with age one catches these things easier or it's only the change of the season??? Who knows...

Aber immerhin hab ich gerade mal wieder ein layout für das 2011 Album von Mr.P.fertiggestellt. Hi, hi, hi - der war vielleicht ganz schön überrascht, daß ich das Album noch auf dem Zettel habe :-)

At least I got another layout done for Mr.P.'s 2011 album. Lol, he was pretty surprised that I still have that one on my mind :-)

Thise layout I did recently for a Club Scrap challenge and I think it turned out nicely.

Und - nein - ich hab mich immernoch nicht entschieden diesen Monat bei Shimelle mitzumachen - aber irgendwie denkt man ja doch drüber nach, ob man am Tag was lernt und gestern hab ich tatsächlich etwas gelernt - nämlich: wir sind an unseren Strand spazieren gegangen und plötzlich waren da Rehe. Ich wusste nicht das Rehe an den Strand gehen :-) Leider hatte ich keine Kamera dabei und somit hab ich gelernt immer daran zu denken eine unserer Kameras mitzunehmen:-)

And - no I still haven't decided if I will participate in Shimelle's class - but as I was thinking about it I noticed I really learned something yesterday. We went for a walk in our beach-park and all of a sudden we saw some deer at the beach. I didn't know that deer were going to the beach! Unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me, so I learnt to make sure to always take one of our cameras with me :-)

Auch wenn wir z.Zt. sehr beschäftigt sind, ein paar digi-layouts hab ich doch gemacht :-). Club Scrap hatte im Februar/März wieder deren PSL (Pro Scrapbookers League) und ich hab in einem Digi-team mitgespielt. Ein paar der layouts müssen allerdings noch etwas überarbeitet werden - aber hier schonmal eins, was mir gefällt. Wie findest ihr es?

Although we are still very busy I couldn't resist to make a couple of digi-layouts :-) Club Scrap had their PSL (Pro Scrapbookers League) in February/March and I played in a digi team. Some of the layouts need to be tweaked a bit but the one above I really like. What do you think?

Neuer/New Digi-Designer (für mich/for me)

Vor Kurzem habe ich die Designs von 'Creations by Tinamarie' entdeckt und ich finde es toll, daß sie so frische Farben verwendet. Also hab ich ein wenig nachgeforscht und bin auf ihren Shop bei Oscraps gestoßen und auf ihre Challenge, die noch bis zum 15.10. läuft. Dieses layout habe ich mit dem Set gestaltet, welches sie umsonst für die Challenge zur Verfügung gestellt hat. Wieder tolle Farben und so passend für mein Foto, oder? Und findet ihr nicht auch, daß dieses layout wunderbar ohne Text auskommt?

Not long ago I discovered the designs from 'Creations by Tinamarie'. I just love her use of vibrant colours so I did a little research and found her shop at Oscraps and also her challenge, which still runs till 15th of October. The above layout I created with her freebie kit for this challenge. Again some great colours and they work so well with my picture, don't you think? Do you agree that this layout doesn't need any journaling?

Unglaublich! Ich habe tatsächlich alle challenges mehr oder wenig tagtäglich geschafft! Nun ist es aber glaub ich ersteinmal vorbei mit dem Digi-scrappen - ich hab viel gelernt und es hat auch Spaß gemmacht, aber nun muß ich mir mal wieder die Hände dreckig machen :-)

Shimelle - Sketch of the week 17.08.2011

Ich denke dies ist das letzte digitale layout für unser Puerto Rico Album. Nun muß ich nur noch die anderen Fotos entwickeln lassen und los geht's mit den traditionellen Seiten :-) Für dieses layout hab ich wieder einen Sketch von Shimelle verwendet, der sogar noch zu den challenges von letzter Woche gehört. Hier könnt ihr die challenge nachlesen.

I think this will be my last digital layout for our Puerto Rico album. Now I need to get the other good ones printed and start with the traditional layouts :-) This layout is again according to a sketch from Shimelle and it is also part of the crop challenges, which you can find here.

The text on the layout: Birds eye view - On our way back to San Juan we were extremely lucky because the weather was fantastic. Not only was the flight in this small airplane much nicer than during the rain, but we also had a fantastic view on the fort. A couple of days earlier, when we visited the fort, we could only imagine the full size of it according to the information boards, as it is so big. From the air we had a great view. What a sight!

Text on this layout: wow - Unbelievable, but from my point of view the cruise vessel looked gigantic. In comparison Mr.P. looked like a hobbit.

Hier könnt ihr etwas über diese challenge lesen. Das Rot passt nicht ganz in unser Album, aber es ist ja ein Weihnachtsmotiv, von daher denk ich ist das ok... Oh, ich hab übrigens noch einen Sketch der Woche von Shimelle benutzt (from 29.06.)

OK, this was a real challenge, but I think it turned out ok, or not?

Text on the layout: At the beginning ....there was a nut. For the first time we saw the beginning of a palm tree. The little plantonly feeds on the nut, the air and the water. Theoretically we could moved it to another place and most probably it would in the new spot as well. Vieques, 16.12.2010
