Ein Neuanfang / What a wonderful day to revive this place !

Es gibt soviele Gründe warum ausgerechnet heute ein super Tag ist, um dem Blog mal wieder etwas Leben einzuhauchen:

1. endlich scheint auch hier der Frühling einzukehren - die Sonne lies sich sehen und Blümchen und Bäume fangen an zu blühen. Leider noch etwas kalt, aber das wird schon noch...
2. in den meisten Teilen der Welt ist heute Feiertag (hier leider nicht) aber dies ist auf jeden Fall ein guter Grund um Gute Laune zu haben, oder?
3. vor ziemlich genau 2 Jahren wurde bei mir Brustkrebs diagnostiziert und ich hab ihn besiegt!
4. ich hab endlich einen Plan wie ich dem Berg von angehäuften Fotos (digital und gedruckt) Herr werden kann!
5. ich hab noch jede Menge Reisen und Kurztrips zu verarbeiten, für deren Zusammenfassung, Hotel- und Restaurantbeurteilungen ich nicht unbedingt ein layout machen will.
6. heute startete die DigiScrapParade, Mein absoluter LieblingsHop, soviele Freebies und soviel Inspirationen. 
7. der iNSD (interNational Scrapbooking Day) ist morgen und auf vielen Webseiten haben die Aktivitäten schon begonnen. Ganz unten hab ich ein paar meiner Lieblingsseiten aufgelistet (auf Englisch, da die jeweiligen Seiten alle auf Englisch sind, aber das ist ok, denke ich, oder?). Happy Scrapping!

Hier noch eine kurze Zusammenfassung des letzten Jahres - es hatte viel Schönes, aber auch wieder eine OP und große Enttäuschungen im engeren Freundeskreis:

There are so many good reasons to revive this blog today:

1. finally Spring is here - the sun was shining and flowers and trees start to bloom. It's still cold, but there is hope for warmer temperatures soon...
2. today there is a holiday in most parts of the world (not here) and that is always a reason to be happy, right?
3. I got my breast cancer diagnosis almost exactly two years ago and after all the treatments I can say that I am now cancer free and considered to be a cancer survivor!
4. after a lot of thinking and trying out different things I now have a plan what to do with the huge amount of pictures (digital and printed) I have.
5. I want to summarize a couple of trips and review some hotel- and restaurants, which I do not necessarily want to do on a layout.
6. today the DigiScrapParade launched. It's my absolute favourite hop, lots of freebies and inspiration from great designers.
7. iNSD (interNational Scrapbooking Day) is tomorrow and there are lots of activities going on to celebrate it. Below I have listed my favourites. Happy Scrapping! 

The layout above is a summary of last year (since my last layout) - which has been a good one, despite another operation and a deep disappointment and re-evaluation of certain friendships.

3. Scrapbook.com they have a free shipping code for orders over 50 USD and there challenges in the forum.
4. Scrapbook Generation has already started with their challenges. I really love their sketches and might participate in their challenges as well.

Happy (Chinese) New Year!

Einer der Vorteile einer Familie deren Mitglieder aus verschiedenen Teilen der Welt kommen ist sicherlich, daß es 2x Neujahr gibt und man sich aussuchen kann welches Jahres-horoskop einem besser gefällt :-). Und somit wünsche ich allen ein schönes und gesundes Neues Jahr (und für all die die heute nicht feiern - doppelte Wünsche halten besser :-))

Hier ist ein layout was schon vor einiger Zeit gemacht habe, aber nun hab ich es endlich fotografiert bekommen (oh ja, ich arbeite daran die layouts besser aufzunehmen :-)) Viel Spaß!

One of the advantages of having family members from different parts of the world is that you can celebrate New Year twice and you can choose which yearly horoscope suits you better :-) And therefore I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year (and if you are not celebrating today - getting well wishes twice isn't so bad, right?).

Zwischenstop / stopover

Dieses layout hab ich nach einem Sketch gemacht, den ich beim durchblättern von ein paar sehr alten Scrapbook-Zeitschriften gefunden habe. Seit Jahren (ca.1999/2000!!) interessiere ich mich ja für Scrapbooking, aber aus Zeitmangel habe ich eigentlich nur das Material gesammelt und nichts damit gemacht. Oh ja, man kann sagen ich habe ein Warenlager in meinem Kabuff ! Deshalb versuche ich auch immer die alten Materialien, die mir noch gefallen, mit den neuen zu mischen. Ich hoffe, es gefällt euch :-)

For this layout I used a sketch which I found browsing in very old scrapbooking-magazines. For years I'm interested in scrapbooking, but due to very few time I only collected stuff and never did anything with it. Well, one can say I have a warehouse in my attic! That's why I try to mix and match the old products, which I still like, with the newer ones. I hope you like it :-)

Ein Funken Sonnenschein... / A ray of sunshine..

... wurde heute sofort von mir genutzt, um ein paar layouts aufzunehmen. Wir bekommen im Moment die Ausläufer von Hurricane Isaac zu spüren und die bringen jede Menge Regen (und leider auch seit Tagen unglaubliche Kopfschmerzen!). Hier nun das erste layout:

4x6 Photo Love June

4x6 Photo Love July

Ich hab diesen Monat tatsächlich mein layout pünktlich fertig bekommen - juhuuu! Der 29. ist einfach kein Ultimum Datum für mich....

Ich hab ein weiteres layout für unser Agypten Album (2006) gemacht. Dieses Konzept war super geeignet für all die Postkarten, die wir im Tal der Könige gekauft haben :-)

I made another layout for our Egypt album (2006). This concept was perfect for all the postcards we bought at the Valley of the Kings :-)

Text on the layout: Pictures not allowed - 1. It is logical that it is not allowed to take pictures inside the tombs. Luckily there are lots of postcard vendors in the Valley of the Kings. Unfortunately the quality of the cards is very bad. - 2. We visited the tombs KV9, KV 11 and KV 15.

Frühling / Springtime in New York

Ich arbeite z.Zt. noch an verschiedenen digi layouts - alle Teil meines Kurses 'PowerDigiScrapping' bei BPS. Ob ich die allerdings noch vor unserem Urlaub alle fertig bekomme, wir werden sehen...

Hier aber noch ein traditionelles layout, wieder nach einem Sketch meiner Lieblings-Scrapbookerin Shimelle entstanden. Diesen Sketch gab es bereits am 06.04. als Sketch of the week, aber er passt so gut zu meinem Foto, oder? Ich hoffe, daß ich nach unserem Urlaub noch mehr der Sketche verwenden kann, um dann wöchentlich bei Shimelle mitzumachen. Auch diesesmal hab ich wieder viel Material verwendet, was seit Jahren bei mir rumliegt - ju huuuuuuu!

I still have to finish a couple of digi-layouts from my class 'PowerDigiScrapping' at BPS and I do not know if I can do it before our vacation, we will see...
But here is a traditional layout again designed after a sketch from my favourite scrapbooker Shimelle. This sketch was already on April 4th part of her Sketch of the week series, but it fits well with my picture. Don't you think? I hope that after our vacation I'll even use more of her sketches and have the time to participate weekly. On this layout I again used a lot of old material from my stash - wohooo!

Text says that there are only very few trees between the skyscrapers and in springtime when the few ones are in bloom it is very beautiful.

Ägypten 2006 !!

Für die embellies hab ich mit Stazon auf Spiegelpapier gestempelt. Leider sieht man die Spiegelung auf den Fotos nicht...
For the embellies I stamped with Stazon on shiny, mirrorlike paper. Unfortunately the reflexion cannot be seen in the photos...

The text says: This was the hottest day of our trip (abt. 100 degr. F) and that we were lucky that the site wasn't overcrowded, otherwise there wouldn't have been enough air inside the monuments. Also there wasn't enough shade so Mr. P. made himself comfortable right in the middle of the temples before it was time for our busdrive back to Assuan.

Hier hab ich wieder etwas für die 4x6 Photo Love challenge von Shimelle bei TwoPeas gemacht. Der Kurs ist umsonst und verarbeitet nur 4x6 Fotos - herrlich, kein schnippeln oder passendes ausdrucken.

Hier waren wir in einem der kleineren National Parks im National Park System. Mal ganz was anderes, als die großen Parks, die man aus dem Westen so kennt, aber trotzdem shr sehenswert.

Dieses layout hat eine Klappe, unter die noch ein Foto und der Text passt. Dieses Design finde ich super und ich werde es wohl noch häufiger verwenden:

Again something for the 4x6 Photo Love challenge from Shimelle at TwoPeas. This class is for free and it is all about using 4x6 photos - great, no cutting or special printing necessary!
This layout is about one of the smaller National Parks within the National Park system. Totally different to the National Parks one knows from the West but still very nice.
This layout has a hidden spot, big enough for a picture and some journaling. I love this design and will definitely use it again.
The text says: We had very few time to explore this National Park, but we walked the boardwalk-trail. Thanks to the bad weather forecast we had long trousers and jackets on otherwise we would have been eaten by the mosquitos.

Das letzte layout für die Rahmen, die wir bereits im Weihnachtsausverkauf bei Potterybarn gekauft hatten (ups ist das schon wieder so lange her???), ist nun auch fertig und Mr.P. hat bereits alle 4 in den Flur gehängt. Sie sehen auch echt ganz gut aus zusammen, oder?

Jetzt werd ich mich mal wieder mit unseren Reisen beschäftigen, bevor der Ernst des Lebens einen nach fast 4 Jahren dann doch wieder einholt...

The last layout for the frames we bought on x-mas sale at Potterybarn is finally done (is x-mas already so long ago???). Mr.P. has already hung all 4 up in our hallway. They really look nice together, don't you think?

Now, I will look again into all our travels and see what there is still to plan for this year resp. see if I can work on some pics from the past before the real life kicks in again after almost 4 years....

Endlich/Finally

Seitdem wir aus New York wiedergekommen sind wollte ich diese Fotos nach einem Kurs bei Two Peas in a Bucket verscrappen. Leider war ich für die challenge zu spät, aber immerhin hab ich ein layout fertig. Und - ich hab viele alte Materialien mit einigen Neuen kombiniert. Ich hoffe, euch gefällt es:
